About the Hysteric's Catalogue
Founded in 1984 by Nobuhiko Kitamura, Hysteric Glamour emerged as a response to the austerity of brands like Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto with vintage-inspired garments that celebrated vibrant color, bombastic graphics and playful riffs on Americana. This rare catalog from 1989 features that year's spring/summer collection and consists of candid photographs shot across the United States. Subjects and models were selected at random and are comprised largely of passersby who were around while the team was on-location. This catalog has been sourced by Hi-Bridge Books, an appointment-only rare media archivist and bookstore located in Tokyo.
