About the Dream Fragment by Keiichi Tanaami
Born in 1936, Keiichi Tanaami remains an icon in Japan's avant-garde art scene. His style blends psychedelic colors, erotic imagery and graphics influenced by mid-century comic books. After a visit to New York and a meeting with Andy Warhol, the artist began to draw heavily from the burgeoning American pop art movement. Despite early work including commercial advertisements and magazines, he ultimately branched out to design posters, album covers and other countercultural prints. 'Dream Fragment' explores Tanaami's collage-like compositions from the 1970s into the 2000s.
